Feed yourself. I'm not talking macaroni and cheese, steak salad, and bread pudding. (Although those are great!) I'm talking about consciously, mindfully doing and indulging in the things that feed the true you – whether it’s emotional, intellectual, physical, or spiritual. I'm also talking about consciously, mindfully connecting with the PEOPLE who feed the true you.
I experienced some personal pain last year -- and the year before. Some difficult choices were made. I tried (I really tried!) to continue to live outwardly, live lovingly, and find a safe spot for release and renewal. You only need one or two good friends who will make room for your complications. Mine made space for my crazy (and I love them for it).
When I look back on that chapter of the journey of my life, their comfort will surely paint the mile markers alongside the road.
If you reach out to someone -- whether you're the one in need or they are -- you’re probably feeding them, whether you know it or not. If you give affection to or accept affection from someone, that's feeding. If you say thank you or I love your hair or I love your handwriting, that's feeding. Who could you feed a little today? If you’re new to the idea of "feeding" others, I’d love to hear from you at firstname.lastname@example.org.
